A print of an acrylic painting of The Phoenix Brewery, Luton by Gary Nash - professionally printed on water colour paper using archive inks.
Having been a theatrical scenic artist for many years, I have recently branched out into much smaller artworks. My interest in the historical and lost buildings of Edwardian Luton inspired me to use them as a subject for my acrylic paintings. Each print features a professionally printed image on water colour paper and a brief history of the featured location plus an optional cardboard mount..
This card shows the former Phoenix Brewery which stood on Park Street West in Luton for over 100 years. Although Luton Is primarily know for its hat and motor manufacturing it was also once a major centre for brewing having three breweries at one time. The most famous was J.W.Greens a highly successful company which eventually merged with Flowers until it became a significant part of Whitbread Plc who still have a presence in the town. This fine building no longer exists having been demolished in the mid sixties.
